Christmas Tablemats

These are from "Lovers Knot Placemats" by Eleanor Burns of Quilt in a Day which really caught my eye at my first quilting show. So armed with lots of FQs of Christmas fabrics I started cutting strips and sewing them together to make some gifts for family and friends (the mats for our festive table will be ready for Christmas 2002!)

These were quite quick to strip and chain piece although keeping the sub-units truly square was easier said than done. I had a variety of Christmas fabrics and these are just a couple of the finished mats. They end up about 17" x 22" whcih is way too big for our dining table so those I am making for us do not have the borders. Any left over strips I used to make coasters.
